3/28/2023: Livepaint flower

I colored in this flower by using the Live Paint Bucket tool (K) and the Live Paint Selection tool(Shift-L). First off, I selected the whole flower using the selection tool(A), after that, I went to Objects in the menu bar, then I selected the Make option. There I had my live object. after that, I selected the Live Paint Bucket tool and started painting. when I was finished, I selected a part of the black outline and went to select it in the menu bar. I then hit the same stroke color and it selected the stroke of the flower for me. Afterward, I colored it white and gave the image background.

Chapter 10;Shape Builder and Pathfinder on shapes

For this practice, we explored how to use different tools inside the pathfinder box to create the shapes above.

For the first magnifying glass, I selected the circle parts of the magnifying glass and then used the “minus front” pathfinder to get the inner circle empty. Then I united the main circle with the middle part to make them one shape. After, I brought the green base to the front(shift+Ctr+]), then I selected both shapes and hit unite.

the second one, I practiced the shape builder tool. First, I select the whole shape. With the shape builder tool selected(Shift+M),I hold Alt and get rid of the inside ring. Then, once again, I bring the green base forward. with shift selected, I drag up until all of the shape is green.

Portait 2/13

Self-portrait I did using the same methods I had back on the practice portrait assignment. Created mainly by using the curvature tool. I created the effects on the hair by making some bean shapes and adjusting them to where I liked them before I used the shape builder tool while holding Alt. I created the shadows by making a crescent shape, changing the opacity to 50, and blending mode to multiply so it wouldn’t have a greyish shadow.

Practice portrait 2/7

For this practice, we had been tasked with making a portrait of a woman using mainly the curvature tool.

First off I started with the head, Using a guiding line over the reference to create half of the head shape. Once I filled it in, I then reflect a copy of it by (Right click>Transform>Reflect> Copy). I then move it while pressing shift to the other side to keep it steady.

Then I created the facial features as well as her accessories. afterward, I created the hair using the ellipse tool. To give it its wavy texture, I went to the Effects Layer, Clicked Distort and transform, then ZigZag. To give it different colors, I made two other copies of the blue one (Alt>Drag) and adjusted them to what angle I wanted them at. Then, I select every circle and click on the Shape Builder Tool icon. I drag my curser around the areas I didn’t want the circles in and made it look like a full afro.

I gave it a shadow by creating a crescent black shape, Turning down the opacity, and Doing the same thing i had done to create the afro.

I finished off by making the body and giving it a shadow aswell.

mask 2/7/23

For this practice, we were introduced to the width tool (Shift-W) and messed around with the width of the sides. I made them chunkier by the ends and slimmer on the points. I did this with every single one by pressing the Similiar objects icon and replicating the rest of them.

Brushes 2/6/23

We had been tasked to create new brushes using the templates we were given, By selecting the main stroke, Going into brushes, and creating a new brush. I then change whatever I need to in the panel and then apply it to the brush. I then selected the B and then applied each brush to it to give it different look. for the second one, I changed the colorization method to Tints and Shades, making the colors in the same color range.

Strokes Practice skull 2/6/23

We had been tasked to change the stroke on the back lines, the line in the heart, and the ones right in the middle of the forehead. By doing this I opened the stroke panel from the view menu,

for the background strokes, I changed the caps and corners to round and aligned the strokes to the inside.

for the dotted line, I changed the cap to round and left the corners the same. I added a dashed line which gave the line the dotted look. having 15 pt on the dash and 15 pt on the gap.

and for the stroke in the middle of the heart, I changed the caps and corners to round.
